STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Minitab Inc. today announced the availability of Minitab® 18 Statistical Software, the newest version of the leading statistical software for quality improvement and statistics education.
The new release adds advanced capabilities for statistical modeling, Design of Experiments (DOE) and measurement systems analysis that give quality improvement professionals even greater insight into their processes, enabling them to make better decisions, faster and more accurately than ever before.
“Data is everywhere, but it’s not about just having the data, you also need the right tools to be able to turn that data into knowledge, so that you get the powerful insights that strengthen business decisions,” says Jenn Atlas, Global Technical Product Manager at Minitab. “We have added these powerful new capabilities to help our customers do exactly that. The software’s Assistant menu guides you to the right analysis and gives you clear results so you can use your data to solve your toughest business problems.”
Powerful Statistical Tools
One longstanding business problem is determining which inputs make the biggest impact on the output of a process. Standard experimental methods can be costly and time-consuming, or incapable of distinguishing main effects and two-way interactions between inputs.
Minitab 18 answers that challenge with Definitive Screening Designs, which minimize the number of experimental runs required, but still enable users to identify important inputs without confounding main effects and two-way interactions.
Minitab 18 also adds restricted maximum likelihood (REML) estimation, an advanced method that minimizes bias and improves inferences and predictions for mixed models, which include both fixed and random factors.
With Minitab 18, it’s never been easier to assess the impact of a large number of factors on a process output, or to get more accurate results from models that include both fixed and random factors.
Complementing the release of Minitab 18 is a new version of Quality Trainer by Minitab®, an e-learning course that teaches you how to solve real-world quality improvement challenges with statistics and Minitab, and lets you refresh that knowledge anytime.
Minitab 18 is available in English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish. Documentation is available in several other languages.
